Caucus 2026
Information on caucus, the process for that evening and what follows!
Republican Caucus 2026
Caucus is the first step in being a grassroots activist in a process for Minnesota political parties to endorse candidates, change the party platform and elect party leaders. It is the first step to being a delegate for the conventions that will follow - local BPOU (ours!), congressional district and state conventions. Our organization is holding caucus at multiple locations. Please attend that for the municipality you live in, which may vary from your postal address.
Going to a caucus is a great way to show support for a candidate, raise an issue that’s important to you, influence who the party will endorse for many offices, and meet like-minded people in your community.
When and where will precinct caucuses be held?
The 2026 precinct caucuses are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. We encourage attendees to arrive between 6:00 and 6:30pm to register and mingle with other patriots.
Please attend the caucus location for the municipality you live in. This may vary from the city you use as your postal address.

What is a precinct caucus?
Precinct caucuses are meetings run by political parties. They are the first in a series of meetings where parties may endorse candidates, select delegates, set goals and values - called party platforms, and elect party leadership.
Who can participate in a caucus?
To participate, you must be eligible to vote in the next general election and live in the precinct. You also must generally agree with the principles of the political party hosting the caucus. Here is a link to our Party Platform.
What happens at the caucus?
Each political party runs their caucus meetings a little differently. Here is what you might anticipate at ours:
Choose volunteers who will organize political activities in the precinct. This could include maintaining contact lists, holding political meetings, and helping with campaign efforts. Our BPOU Constitution allows for each precinct to have their 2 ranking officers be members of our Full Committee, so electing at least a chair and deputy chair of each precinct should occur.
Discuss issues and ideas for the party to support. You can present an issue or idea for the party to support, called a resolution. If you convince other attendees to support your resolution, it will be considered at the subsequent political convention. If approved by that BPOU convention, it then would similarly carry to the appropriate congressional district convention and ultimately the state convention. If approved by all bodies, eventually, your resolution could become part of the official party platform.
Choose delegates who will attend future conventions. At those conventions, party delegates will endorse candidates, elect delegates to subsequent conventions, elect party leadership and consider alterations to the party platform, Constitution and Bylaws.
A presidential or gubernatorial straw poll may occur.
I can't attend caucus, but would like to be considered for a delegate/alternate position.
While it's always best to attend in-person, we have a form online that you can complete so that your name may be presented to your local caucus when it comes to voting on their delegate/alternate representatives to the BPOU. You can fill that out here.
I'd like to present a resolution at Caucus for consideration. How do I prepare for this process?
Details on the process for a resolution consideration are available on the State Party form. You can download it here. We'd urge that you review the 2024 State Party Platform (current) available here.
Additional information on precinct caucuses
You have the right to take time off work to be at a precinct caucus or political party convention, if you’re a delegate or alternate. You must give your employer ten days’ written notice (See 202A.19, subd.2 and 202A.135).
Accessibility at caucuses
We will attempt to provide an interpreter by request, if you are deaf, deafblind, or hard-of-hearing. If you are visually impaired, you also have the right to get written caucus materials ahead of time, by request. Requests of this nature must be submitted in advance to the State Party.
